Robert Florence column Lost Humanity, lost forever. ›
Read the article above and then read this. This is just a quick summary of recent events.
An amazing column published each week on Eurogamer by Robert Florence, a man who has never been afraid of saying what he thinks has sadly come to an end. Not a natural end because of certain events that came to light yesterday and became even worse today. It’s a depressing day for gamers and game journalists. Here is what happened yesterday with a summary of events by Rock Paper Shotgun writer John Walker, and again today he wrote another piece on todays fiasco here.
Today the lady in question that was featured in the Eurogamer article threatened to sue Eurogamer if they didn’t remove part of the article mentioning her. She wasn’t the only games journalist tweeting to get a free PS3 though so all the blame she is getting shouldn’t just be on her. This is a journalist, industry wide problem that split the journalist community in two. Since this has all happened Robert Florence has stepped down from the Eurogamer article and will no longer make any more, and why, because he has credibility. Robert Florence is a man that likes to question the status quo, he’s written about stuff that should be brought to light, stuff that should be talked about and hopefully one day should be changed for the better. Robert Florence is a brilliant man, and I salute him. At least he still writes for Rock Paper Shotgun every Sunday, at least.
“lady” is a very generous term to use in this case
